I grabbed a chicken avocado sandwich on the way to the Oxford Tube bus to London with Robbie and Cara. I really wanted some soup from Pret as well, but you are only allowed to bring cold foods on the bus. The sandwich was amazing, as everything from Pret always is. I might just have to eat there again today….
This pasty was pretty awesome. Steak and Ale are a killer combination. There were also chunks of potatoes in there. The pasty dough was crisp and buttery on the outside and soft and flaky on the inside, a perfect vessel for takeaway food. To be fair though, I was so hungry I would’ve gladly eaten that pigeon and been as happy.
After walking almost all the way down Cowley Road during the annual Cowley Road Carnival, and just when Stu was at his breaking point for the amount of my curry-quest related whining, we found it. This chicken curry was pretty decent, the chicken could have been a bit more moist, but the flavour and spicy level were spot on.
King prawn (shrimp) and rocket (arugula) sandwhich, apple juice to drink. For a premade sandwhich coming out of a grocery store, this one was not half bad. It was a kind of prawn salad like tuna salad, it had onions and celery, and mayonnaise. Where we would say salad, they just call it a “prawn mayonnaise.” Where in America can we get a premade grocery store sandwhich with shrimp and arugula on it?
Chicken and mushroom pasty, with 500 mils of Dr. Pepper. More of a snack than a real lunch, but I was on the go. The pastry was flaky and well seasoned, lots of herbs in the sauce. The Dr. Pepper was cold and refreshing.
