Yummy fruits! I love the produce here… I don’t know how or what they do to make it better, but it is. I think it may be because they allow produce to ripen before picking it. The figs, cherries, and nectarine were all perfect!

Aperitif # 1
We had our neighbors over for aperitifs tonight. So fun! I served a selection of cheeses – some kind of blue goats cheese, fresh ricotta, young Pecorino Romano with pepper corns, and a Emmental de Savoie- all delicious with figs and apricots. I also served Jambon de Savoie and salami with cornichon and a lovely vegetable platter with hummus. We drank Suze – an excellent, very bitter, herbal aperitif. We had a great time! I always love entertaining and we had the added bonus of a slight language barrier – fun! 🙂

Meal #88: Lunch
Meal #87: Breakfast
Meal #89: Dinner
Now that we have a vegan on board, it’s been a fun challenge to come up with delicious, vegan food. Dinner tonight was a great success! Yum! I made country ratatouille with oven roasted tomatoes, red bell peppers, zucchini, onion, garlic, and eggplant served over olive oil and bay polenta and garnished with basil . It was absolutely delicious! Another easy, healthy recipe to add to the weeknight regime. Adam didn’t think there was enough protein, so I baked a couple eggs in the ratatouille for him… that was tasty, too!
Meal #86: Dinner
We made it home from Geneva with NO wrong turns!!! Success! I made a vegan lentil and vegetable soup with salad and bread. I didn’t love it, but it was missing dairy and meat. Luckily, we had butter for the bread and I made a delicious creme fraiche and goat cheese dressing. Phew… my dairy levels were getting low 😉
Meal #85: Lunch
Geneva is really beautiful! We really enjoyed walking around the city and building a big appetite for lunch. We went to the highest rated restaurant in Geneva, a roasted chicken place! We split 1/2 a roast chicken with potatoes and sauce of the day and the Swiss salad which included hard-boiled eggs, bacon, gruyere, and garlic dressing. The sauce of the day was outrageously good! It was a rich chicken gravy with garlic and coriander. It was soooo good we were dipping everything in it 🙂 We finished with espresso, as usual!
Meal #84: Breakfast
So sorry guys! I totally forgot to take a picture. We were talking and catching up with Gary and Aimee and I forgot 😦 I had an espresso, greek yogurt with fresh strawberries and nectarine. It was all very good!
Meal #83: Linner/ Dunch
Today we picked up Gary and Aimee at the Geneva, Switzerland Airport! We left the airport and headed to our hotel that was just 8 minutes away… or three hours! Jeeze! We are SOOOO bad at this getting places thing… We completely missed lunch, so we had a big dinner instead:)
We went to an Italian pizza place outside Geneva – most restaurants are not open on Mondays. It was actually very good despite the fact that they had an automated pizza machine in the alley beside the restaurant – “fresh hot pizza in just four minutes! 24/7! “. Inside the real restaurant, we had the “Geneva” pizza with gruyere and salami and the “white” pizza with proscuitto, parmesan, and arugula. I LOVED the white pizza! I pretty much love anything with arugula. We also had the crudite salad which had corn, carrots, tomato, artichoke, olives, and a great garlic dressing. Everything was very good. We completed the meal with fine Italian espresso.
