The evening before, as we were exploring the city, we noticed a long line to get into Lady Pi Pi. We took note and decided to go for lunch. So glad we did!!!! It was absolutely delicious- fresh, quality ingredients prepared with skill and attention. Not pictured is the graphic statue of a lady Pi Pi-ing, thus the restaurant’s name π
Cold, marinated anchovies with lemon and capers. The perfect cool start to an excellent meal!
The grill master.
Great views from the restaurant!
Really delicious grilled squid with green and wax beans, Swiss chard, and sweet little potatoes all cooked with garlic and olive oil. We loved it!
Maybe our best meal yet- crunchy French fries, snappy sausage that tasted like the best kielbasa ever, excellent grilled chicken, Cevapi, and a grilled pork chop! Wow! Everything was super smoky and seasoned perfectly. Soooooo good!
Herb grappa- So delicious and the perfect way to begin and end a meal.
We stopped at the Dali museum, mostly to enjoy the A/C ππ»

We climbed the wall! All 58 flights of stairs and over 2 miles. It was breathtakingly beautiful and sooo worth the effort!! Luckily, we waited until sunset to get the great views, avoid the crowds, and enjoy the cool evening breeze.
The amazing wall!!!

Finally some good food and drink!Β
After waiting hours at the border, we made to Dubrovnik Old Town. It was worth the wait! It’s so beautiful. It doesn’t look real!

Quick kabob breakfast. Really good!
Adam had beer and I had peach juice with sparkling water. Refreshing and delicious! Now, that’s a view π

It was Sooo hot. Unfortunately, we had to stop for drinks often π
Kindest, worst breakfast ever.Β
We stayed in an adorable, affordable Airbnb just 8km away from Dubrovnik. It had a great view, a sweet hostess, and some major problems. Yes, it was under five miles from the city center, BUT we had to cross the border into Bosnia to get there and back. It took almost two hours each way…In the sweltering heat…While our hostess chain smoked in the front seat. That view though! πββ
I could handle the instant coffee. The egg dish, on the other hand, was like chalky bits of sponge with canned mushrooms and slimy zucchini with a rubber glove on top… was that a bit of cigarette ash? Maybe. Thank goodness for that view… the eggs looked so good flying into the canyon π

Next problem, the front yard was a major construction zone. It was only a little dusty… like dust in your mouth, on your clothes, on your skin… not too bad. π The men worked all night to avoid the heat of the day. Luckily, we didn’t have air conditioning, so we could leave the window open all night and enjoy the calming construction music. Cool.
I wish I had taken a icture of the “shower”. It can’t be described. It was clean and remarkably new, but so oddly designed it wasn’t usable. We opted for a swim instead. What a pretty view!
Spectacular Dubrovnik!

Squid salad- boring. A total disappointment.
Not a bad salad. Cucumber, tomato, onion, and feta in a vinaigrette. It could’ve been WAY better, but it wasn’t bad.
Traditional “black risotto”. Unfortunately, this is not risotto. This is rice with black on it, plus some bad seafood. Risotto should be creamy and lovingly made. Black risotto should be black β
and have a clear, briny, seafood flavor from the squid ink (no β
). This was a terrible dish and it was unfortunately WAY overpriced because we were in a touristy area π
Gross, over cooked beef with plain noodles. Any Culinary 1 student can tell you, you must cooked the pasta in the sauce. It’s the only way. Period.
The only good food we had in Dubrovnik so far….
Dubrovnik is truly stunning! Thank goodness because the food was sh**!
Second breakfast in MljetΒ
Simple breakfastΒ
Dinner in Mljet
Pit stopΒ
We missed our ferry to Mljet island, so we had three hours to kill before we could get on the next one. No problem! We went for a swim the crystal-turquoise water, explored the adorable village of Ston, scaled the walls, and of course, had a snack!

We tried some local wines. I really liked the red, but the white was too sweet. Adam liked the white but not the red… we’re a perfect match π They were paired with some delicious cheese that tasted like a mix of manchego and cheddar- yum! And some even better Dalmatian style ham- salt cured and lightly smoked. The ham is absolutely delicious!
