We love Indian food, but many people are afraid to try it… Not our travel buddies Dave and Dana! They courageously tried and LIKED everything! I love sharing new experiences with friends 🙂
Koblenz was a beautiful city! We took gondolas across the Rhine and up to an old fortress. Gelato is always a must 🙂
Fried eggs on toast with roasted red pepper pesto, fresh nectarines, and coffee. A good breakfast for another day of site seeing. Today we’re headed to Koblenz 🙂
We toured fabulous Oberwesel with friends then joined Dave’s mom and other friends for dinner. The restaurant was an adorable, 7th generation, family owned restaurant and winery. We sat outside amidst the vineyards, drank cold, sparklingly delicious house-made Rieslings, and enjoyed great conversation! After dinner, the vintner, Wilhelm, offered us a tour of the wine cellar. He approached our table with icy glasses of Riesling and asked if we would join him!?!?? YES! We descended into the cellar where Wilhelm told us about his family’s wine making history and explained the different types of Riesling. He opened another bottle for tasting- it was amazing! We were all raving about how fresh, spicy, and fruity it was. After dinner we were given “party favors”! A red bag with two bottles of our favorite Riesling- a generous gift from Dave’s mom. I’m so grateful for her generosity and our new friends’ hospitality. Thank you for my favorite day in Germany!
We met friends in Boppard and quickly boarded the historic Goethe- a chipper, old paddle boat- for a fabulous four-hour cruise along the Rhine to Bingen. We met new friends, saw many awesome castles, passed the legendary Lorelei, and relaxed while drinking beers and eating pretzels. Life is so good!
We had an early train to catch, so I made breakfast to go. Vanilla almond yogurt with peaches, plums, and crunchy muesli with iced coffee. A great start to a long day of travel and sightseeing! Boppard, here we come!
We spent most of the day inside reading and relaxing, but that got boring 😉 Dave suggested beer and pizza and we were all on board!
We headed to Altstadt (old town) and had some delicious beers and great pizza. There were so many people out tonight. The air was buzzing with fun and conversation. We loved it!
We started with an arugula, Parmesan, pine nut and Parma ham salad- yum! Adam had the veggie pizza with an egg on top. I ordered the caper, anchovy, and mushroom, but I received the tuna, mushroom, and pepperoni pizza. Although I was worried about tuna on a pizza, it wasn’t too bad. The crust was charred and crispy. The cheese was high quality mozzarella- so creamy! Great idea Dave!
We slept in until 2 and I felt like cooking, so I made a bok choi, onion, snow pea, garlic, ginger, cilantro, shrimp stir fry with egg fried rice. Super fresh and tasty!
We decided to do as the Germans do and have a late night picnic, with lots of wine and beer of course 🙂 We left our apartment at about midnight and walked to the Rhine. We found a comfy spot in the grass and enjoyed cheese, wine, fresh veggies, pretzels, and chocolate. We talked and people watched as barges silently floated by. What a fun evening! The Germans really know what they’re doing! Sorry it was too dark for pictures, you’ll just have to imagine…
While everyone else went shopping, I sat at a cafe, gave myself a French manicure, and had a snack 🙂
I enjoyed a piece of raspberry butter cake and a cappuccino.
