Last night on Vaasa

For our last night in Vaasa, we knew there was only one place to go… Bock’s Corner Brewery! We had fresh grilled burgers served on toasted pita with garlic creme fraiche, cucumber, and tomato. It was really good, but some French fries would’ve completed it. We enjoyed our last night in Vaasa and celebrated a great stat with Bock’s Pale Ale. Good night!

Hike. Climb. Bike. Snack!

We enjoyed a relaxing cruise with beautiful views! After the cruise we rented bikes and attempted to complete a rough nature trail around the area. Oh my!!!! I know very little about “mountain biking” or “off roading”. Shortly after starting I hit a rock and got thrown off my bike. Don’t worry, I landed on my feet. BUT then a PLAGUE of Mosquitos descended upon me! I’ve never experienced anything like it. Maybe 200? 500? I don’t know. But I ran. I thought I may never stop running.

Needless to say, when we finally got back to the cafe, I needed some caloric comfort. The lox sandwich was just the thing.

Afternoon snack

We arrived at Kvarken then hiked to and climbed the lookout tower for the great views! We had a few minutes to have a snack at the cafe before our archipelago cruise departed. We had a cinnamon, cardamom roll and coffee. The roll was a mildly spiced enriched dough similar to brioche. Yum!

Midnight ride

Bock’s closed but we weren’t ready for bed… The sun hadn’t gone down yet!!! We decided to go for a bike ride☺️ We ended up at Oliver’s Inn. A dive bar, still open and serving popcorn- one of me and Mom’s favorite snacks!

Sweet Vaasa

We had a wonderful day in Vaasa! We rode bikes to city center and had lunch at Sweet Vaasa. It’s a lovely little lunch cafe with fresh salads and sweets. I had the chicken Caesar salad, coffee, and Adam and I shared the hummingbird cake. Everything was of high quality, fresh, and delicious.  Fuel for our museum extravaganza!

We enjoyed SIX Vaasa museums today! It’s a good thing we rode bikes so we could get around quickly. We went to a couple art, a couple science, and a couple history museums. Overall, a cultural success!
