Late lunch, early dinner

After a relaxing afternoon at home, we went for a walk into town. What a beautiful city! We had lunch at a Thai restaurant. It was good, very different than Thai in the US, but good.

We started with some ugly, but tasty appetizers- spring rolls, crispy shrimp, and chicken sate. I had the Thai red curry with vegetables and rice. It was pleasantly spicy and creamy. Adam had the pad se ew with vegetables and, surprise, chicken!!!

Dinner with friends

We shared a lovely, HOT day in Cologne with friends- co-workers Dave and Dana, and a German student of Adam’s, Sascha. He was an excellent tour guide and host.

We walked throughout Cologne, then had a tasty dinner near the river. I had the tagliatelle with cream, bacon, and chanterelles. It was creamy, smoky, and earthy. Adam had grilled pork cutlets in a creamy, chanterelle sauce. It, too, was very yummy! Good food. Good friends. Good life.

After dinner we found a spot near the river to watch the fireworks display- wow!!!! It was over thirty minutes long and synchronized to 70’s music. It was awesome although none of my pictures prove it 🙂

Sunday breakfast

We slept in today 🙂 I made a late breakfast of toasted whole wheat ciabatta rubbed with garlic and spread with red bell pepper pesto and topped with a juicy fried egg. I served it with a fruit salad of strawberries, blueberries, and peaches. Tasty 🙂
